After a long and tiresome wait we finally have a competition for teams that are dedicated but haven’t had the chance to shine. Reality Gaming have gone to great lengths to create this wonderful Amateur competition, and at a perfect time! With the next season of cevo a while away this is the perfect chance for some of these relatively unknown teams to show us what they are made of. Many teams in this competition need no introduction and have been playing together for sometime, bur for some others this is the stepping stone into bigger and better things. Keep an eye out as week by week we will see some huge upsets and watch as some fresh players show us their talent. It is going to be a turbulent ride for most of the teams and players. This is going to be one exciting and volatile competition and we will be here every step of the way to try and predict the unpredictable!

This being the first match of the season is going to make it quite hard to predict and gauge how the teams play, strong points, weak points, better maps etc, so bear with me.

Digital Mind vs. Pinnacle - Sunday 25^th May - 7:30

Digital Mind, the guys who have been screaming for a shot at the big time, and this is their chance to prove to us their worth. They claim to be ready for cevo intermediate; this is going to be a critical match for Digital Mind. Both Digital Mind and Pinnacle are possible contenders for next season’s cevo intermediate, this being said, they are going to want to show the community that they are ready. Digital Mind’s recent pick up of machete is going to prove valuable this match if he gets down and plays with his team, if not watch as his rage can really pull them down. Expect both teams to be pracced up heavily, watch this match go down to the wire, round for round.

Pinnacle

Pinnacle, this team has been here a few times are no strangers to competitions, and the source scene. These guys were unluckily denied a shot at last season’s cevo but have stayed together, and are still going strong today. Their win of the last AOGN competition will give this team the mental edge over some of the new comers. Pinnacle has all the teamwork and chemistry of some intermediate teams and will use this to their advantage as they put up a huge fight against Digital Mind. Watch for the solid teamwork, consistent fragging, and bing’s ninjas. To win this one against Digital Mind it is crucial that their caller keeps a cool head and capitalized on their Terrorist Half with solid picks and fakes.

StipeGT vs. Subversion - Thursday 29^th May - 9:00

StipeGT have been together for a long time and have considerably more experience than subversion with their longevity and being in the source scene for longer. However, this can only get them so far, subversion is still a threat as is any team at this stage of the competition. Watch for allusion and thrillakilla to bring the majority of the frags for StipeGT and teamwork and chemistry outclasses the relatively young team.

Subversion

Subversion is a good example of a committed team. These guys constantly practice, are always keen to get better, and learn new things. It is this drive to get better that I have seen from Subversion that will make them a good team in a short time. They are a consistent and a fine team at the moment, but wait till the later stages of this season as we will see a much improved team. This match against StipeGT is going to be a tough one as StipeGT has more experience but Subversion will take a lot away from the match and improve greatly.

Exposure vs. Symphony - Monday 26^th May - 7:30

Exposure has been around for a while, but has been rather stagnant because of the very few competitions at the moment, unless you enjoy Gamearena and Gamespace. Their biggest weakness is that they have less experience in competitions, where the pressure plays a significant role and can really change their in game style. This is going to be a good learning experience for Exposure and will set them up nicely for future competitions and matches. This match will be a tough one for this team, and every round is going to be a fight till the last second. Hopefully exposure pulls out something huge and surprises us all, but this is most unlikely.

Symphony

What needs to be said about these guys? After being the subject of a lot of forum discussion; everyone has heard of this team. The recent addition of tuska to the lineup means that they currently have two cevo intermediate players in their lineup. This means that only one or the other can play come match time. These guys are the top3 predicted favorites will most likely take this match with comfort as exposure are a team without that experience that is ever so crucial in those crunch times.

This team has had some good results, and has been together for a while; they are basically a concept remake, and have had a core four for a long time. The addition of Demented Ducky will only help this team grow; he is a big fragger and being ex-tomatofamily he will bring some experience and that extra edge to this team. Watch for FeaRMEKz to dominate online and bring some huge plays for Revelations.

XtremeGaming, these guys are just initial gaming renamed. They are very stable team and have held the same lineup for a fair while. In scrims these guys play very well and are able to take it to the best. The most important thing for XtremeGaming is that they can transfer this performance in scrims to a competition match. A lot of people will be surprised if they don’t perform to what they do in scrims, but after a few matches they will be used to the atmosphere in a ladder match.

Terrafirma, most of these guys played with me in my very early stages of source and in my view could be the dark horse of the competition. I can see many teams underestimating Terrafirma and paying for the consequences later. These guys have been playing together for a while but just haven’t really taken it that seriously yet, so this will be a big learning experience for this team. Watch as StyleFX underestimate Terrafirma, losing some rounds because of this ignorance.

Having recently won a Melbourne Lan the confidence would be soaring with StyleFX, but is that going to help this team or be their biggest problem? I can see this match going either very well for StyleFX taking the win without having too much of a problem. However, the thing that could go wrong is, if Terrafirma start putting some rounds on the board and get some momentum, we could see StyleFX fall apart mid game and just lose that drive for a win.

This team is either going to go really well this season or get absolutely stomped by the competition. Their style of play is unique and is frustrating to play against because of the constant pushing. Due to this, their constant pushing as counter-terrorists could leave them very open to a team that is just going to sit back and let them walk into AK-47’s. The question is, when the match gets serious will these guys keep playing like they do in scrims? Will they push the area as confident or will they sit back and not play like they normally do? It is that mindset that could really damage Injected.

ColtGaming, these guys could either be another big surprise team or a flop. They seem to banter like they are the best so I guess we will see what they can bring to this competition. Their success this competition will depend on if they can hold a steady lineup and also if ramb0 can do it with the anti-cheat client working. This could be a good chance for ramb0 to clear his plate, but if he doesn’t do it watch as the banter comes back to get ColtGaming.

These guys are another team that have been together for a long time, but because of the lack of competitions haven’t really had the chance to shine. Their longevity and stability has given this team some good chemistry and a good base for improvement. This season for Vertex will be a tough one, but they are going to learn a lot from it and improve very quickly.

FiNEST

FiNEST, these guys are a new Melbourne Lan team to the scene and have been given a great shot at playing RG-a. Personally I have never seen any of the players in this team play, with or against. So these guys are a team that I don’t really have any gauge on how they will perform, but as the season goes on I expect these guys to pull out some solid wins and progress as a team.
